La Calle Mayor, concert pasodoble, is dedicated to this characteristic street of Chiva in which the composer has his family home. It is a pasodoble with a strong emotional baggage, in which the experiences and memories of his childhood are mixed with early musical influences, especially from the composer Domingo Vela, who was one of the first teachers of Alarcon. The piece presents some unusual elements in the pasodoble, as the presence of a slow introduction and a coda and some peculiar melodic-harmonic movements, many of them inspired by Vela. La Calle Mayor was premiered in the first concerto of Luis Serrano Alarcon as principal conductor of the Symphonic Band La Artística of Chiva in 1996.
